Fudan University
Fudan University, named after a Confucian classic quotation which means making unremitting efforts to improve oneself, has now established its prestige both at home and abroad. As a comprehensive university, Fudan University is composed of seven schools under which are 35 departments, 67 undergraduate programs, 109 master programs, 50 doctoral programs and nine postdoctoral mobile stations. It has over 12,000 students, including 3,151 postgraduate students. Fudan University has established exchange relations with 82 colleges and universities in 13 countries and regions. Over 92 years old now, Fudan University has been selected to be one of the few Chinese universities for investment priority in the 21st century.
Korea University
Founded in 1905, Korea University is South Korea's largest private university and a multidisciplinary institution ranked among the top universities in Asia. Led by President Yoon-Dae Euh, Korea University is fiercely proud of its history and contribution to the development of South Korea. Now celebrating its centennial, Korea University is embracing the challenges of the 21st Century and focusing on educating global leaders for a global society.
Located across four campuses, the University consists of 81 academic departments in 15 colleges and 75 research institutes and has a student enrolment of over 30,000 at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An eminent faculty, outstanding students and internationally recognised research programs all contribute to the University's academic reputation.
In anticipation of its 100th anniversary, the University launched its "Vision 2005" project in 1994 with the goal of further raising the standard of education and quality of student life for Korean and international students. The University offers a number of international programs including a Graduate School of International Studies and Institute of Foreign Language Studies. An accredited member of the International Academic Exchange Committee (IAEC), Korea University has been preparing a variety of international programs for international graduate and undergraduate students. Lund University
Lund University is the largest unit for research and higher education in Sweden. The University has about 32,000 undergraduate students, 3,500 postgraduate students and about 6,500 employees. Two-thirds of the employees are teachers and researchers, while the rest are technical and administrative personnel. The University is divided into seven faculties: Technology, Science, Law, Social Sciences, Medicine, Arts and Theology and Performing Arts. Since its foundation in 1666, the University has developed into a modern, international centre for research and higher education. The University co-operates with a great number of universities and research institutes all over the world. Within Sweden, the University co-operates widely with trade and industry as well as with governmental and other organisations.
The National University of Singapore
The National University of Singapore is today recognised as a leading university in the Asia Pacific, with a global outlook and focusing on quality teaching, research and entrepreneurship. It has 10 faculties offering both undergraduate and graduate courses. The 2001 academic year began in July with more than 2,700 faculty members catering to more than 23,000 undergraduate and 9,000 graduate students.
In NUS, a modular system for courses combines the rigour and depth of the British system with the flexibility and breadth of the American system. Top students are further challenged through the University Scholars Program and Student Exchange Programs.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a key university in China, jointly run by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipality . Founded in 1896, it is one of China's oldest universities. Shanghai Jiao Tong boasts 20 academic schools - with 60 undergraduate programs, 152 Masters degree programs, 93 PhD programs, 21 post-doctorate programs, 16 State key doctorate programs and 14 State key laboratories and National engineering centres.
Its total enrolment of full-time students is 38,000, roughly split evenly between undergraduate and postgraduate students. Shanghai Jiao Tong has various international academic exchange programs with foreign universities. It has established relations with more than 100 renowned universities and colleges around the world, as well as connections with many research institutions, corporations and enterprises in China and abroad.
Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) or Tecnológico de Monterrey
The Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), commonly known as Tecnológico de Monterrey, was founded in 1943 by a group of entrepreneurs headed by Don Eugenio Garza Sada. Seeking to educate professionals and equip them with the skills needed to succeed in the business world, Tecnológico de Monterrey has developed into an institution recognised, nationally and internationally, for its academic excellence.
A private, non-profit nationwide university system, Tecnológico de Monterrey comprises 32 campuses spread throughout 26 Mexican cities. With 95,000 students, nearly 3,500 of them from across of the globe, one of Tecnológico de Monterrey's priorities is internationalisation. The University maintains 14 liaison offices in the US, Canada, Europe, China and Latin America, and promotes an international exchange programme offering academic research and continuing education for both students and professors. Tecnológico de Monterrey offers 34 undergraduate programmes and 59 postgraduate programmes, as well as distance learning opportunities through the Virtual University satellite broadcast system. Its faculty comprises 7,600 professors who hold Masters degrees or higher, to facilitate an innovative, student-centred educational model.
University College Dublin
University College Dublin (UCD) is a dynamic, modern university. It is committed to becoming one of the top 30 research universities in the European Union, where cutting-edge research and scholarship will create a stimulating intellectual environment, the ideal surroundings for learning and discovery. UCD provides excellent facilities to support teaching and learning.
With a new academic structure of five Colleges and 35 Schools, UCD is Ireland's premier University offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the humanities and sciences. Its student population is approximately 22,000, including 2,000 international students. Approximately 25% of the student body are engaged in postgraduate study and research. The University is committed to maintaining a high level of research activity and to further developing its collaborative links with industry and commerce, and with educational and research institutions internationally.
University of Birmingham
University of Birmingham is a well-established university with over 25,000 students. More than 7,000 students are working at postgraduate level and there is a major emphasis on research. In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, 39 disciplines were rated as of international standing. There are 29 Schools encompassing almost every discipline: in the arts and humanities, social sciences, law, engineering, medicine and health sciences, and science. The University's annual turnover (2003-2004) is over £310 million, including very substantial support for research from industry, trusts, foundations and the major charities.
University of Delhi
Established in 1922, the University of Delhi is the largest university in India with more than 300,000 students and about 7,000 teachers. Its strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research has made it a role model and path-setter for universities in India. Located across the city, its 78 colleges cater to the needs of undergraduate students while its 84 departments are mostly for postgraduate students. Its alumni have taken on the roles of heads of state, union ministers, governors of states, ambassadors and constitutional authorities.
For the University of Delhi, the period since 2000 has been one of academic renaissance and consolidation which included the addition of new infrastructure. The first major restructuring of all undergraduate programmes since their inception many decades ago has been carried out while a system of internal assessment for all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes has been put in place. Provisions have also been made for the institution of short-term courses in colleges. The process of establishing a well-equipped Biotechnology Park has been initiated while the Campus of Open Learning has been established for distance education. The University of Delhi has long been aware of its role in a larger international academic community, and has been reaching out to fraternal institutions in different parts of the world for collaborative programmes.
The University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh is one of the oldest, biggest and most diverse universities in Britain, with some 17,000 students (including 2,700 drawn from 120 countries worldwide) and studies extending across eight faculties. Some 90% of its 1,400 academic/related staff are graded at the top three points for the excellence of their research - making it a leading large British research university - and its teaching is also assessed at high standards.
The University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow, founded in 1451, is one of the oldest universities in Britain and with 15,000 students is among the largest. Firmly rooted in Glasgow, one of Europe's liveliest cities, it maintains academic links with more than 200 institutions worldwide and attracts students from 80 countries. With nine faculties including a major medical school, Glasgow is committed to providing a traditional broad-based Scottish education in a research-led environment which has attained international repute across both the arts and science based disciplines.
The University of Hong Kong
The University of Hong Kong, the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong, was established in 1911 from the Hong Kong College of Medicine which dated back to 1887. There are nine faculties and a School of Business: Architecture, Arts, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science and Social Sciences. Together, more than 50 first degree programs and 20 postgraduate degree curricula are offered. In research, about 2,000 projects are being conducted in the academic year, 1996-97. The total number of students is 14,700, inclusive of 4,600 postgraduates.
The University has forged links with more than 150 universities all over the world. Its student exchange scheme involving some 300 students annually, cover institutions in Australia, Japan, Mainland China, New Zealand, North America, the United Kingdom, etc.
The University of Melbourne
The University of Melbourne was established in 1853. When the University opened in 1855 it was the first university in the state of Victoria and only the second in Australia. The University is divided into 11 faculties, the School of Graduate Studies and the Melbourne Business School and has some 2,000 academic staff. The University is home to over 1,700 international students from 40 countries undertaking undergraduate, postgraduate and Study Abroad programs. Nine University residential colleges and three halls of residence are situated close to the campus.
The University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham received its Royal Charter in 1948, but traces its roots to the 18th century. Its main campus occupies a 330-acre parkland site three miles west of central Nottingham. Research and teaching are carried out in the Faculties of Arts, Law and Social Sciences, Education, Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Food Science, and Medicine and Health Science. In 1996/7 there were some 14,000 full-time and 8,000 part-time students, including nearly 2,000 drawn from over 100 countries.
The University of Queensland
The University of Queensland (UQ), renowned internationally for its highly-awarded teaching staff, world-class facilities and superior campus environment, has a tradition of success.
UQ welcomes international students to a friendly and supportive community that comprises more than 37,500 students, including 6,607 international students from around 120 countries. The University offers more than 380 high quality programs, including full-degree, Study Abroad, student exchange, English language training, and an academic foundation bridging program.

The University of Virginia
The University of Virginia was founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson in Charlottesville at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is consistently ranked among the top public universities in the United States. The Jefferson-designed Rotunda, Pavilions, Ranges and Lawn constitute perhaps the most architecturally significant central setting for any university in the country. The University embodies the American ideal of education, training leaders in an environment foster in excellence in both research and undergraduate teaching. Waseda University
Waseda University is one of Japan's top private, co-educational institutions of higher learning. Founded in 1882 as a college with three departments under the old Japanese system of higher education, it has grown to become a comprehensive university with two senior high schools, 11 undergraduate schools and 18 graduate/professional graduate schools. The University was founded by Shigenobu Okuma, scholar, government leader and twice Prime Minister of Japan.
