Business Management Programmes

What is the length of the programme?

On average, the MBA programme takes about two-and-a-half years to complete. The Certificate programme may be completed in six months and the Diploma programme in 12 months.

How many subjects can I take?

You may not take more than three subjects at any point in time. Before registering for subjects, you should consider your work, family and other commitments. It is likely that a student in full-time employment may find the full subject load of three subjects per semester difficult to handle.

How much time should I set aside for study per week?

Students normally spend an average of 10-12 hours studying per week per subject. You might find that you need a little more time for the first subject as you adapt to the format of online learning. However, the actual number of hours per week is dependent on the number of subjects in which you are registered, your workload and other commitments, as well as your background knowledge of the subjects.

What resources will I have access to?

You will have full access to a dedicated online library service, which includes all materials required to complete the programme, as well as personal assistance to access reference materials and electronic documents. U21Global also provides textbooks that are designated as required readings in most subjects. Other recommended or optional reading materials are available through the online library.

Can I take breaks during the programme?

Within the duration of the programme, you may take breaks in between subjects. Each subject takes 12 weeks to complete, plus an additional week for the final exam. Academic regulations stipulate that you must complete the MBA programme within five years, the Diploma programme within two and a half years and the Postgraduate Certificate programme within 18 months.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of assignments and participation in class discussions, which are conducted either in teams or through individual effort. Continuous assessment takes place over the 12-week period, and at the end of the subject, you are required to pass a final examination and submit a final assignment.

Can I transfer my credits from another university?

U21Global will consider the transfer of up to three subjects from accredited graduate institutions to the MBA programme (one subject to the Postgraduate Certificate and two subjects to the Postgraduate Diploma). Transferred credits will be counted toward a U21Global degree, but will not be included in your grade point average.

Can I transfer my credits to another University?

U21Global is already recognised by the member universities of Universitas 21, as well as other universities with equal standing. Credit transfer to another university's programme, however, is always dependent on the individual university's academic policies.

Can I progress from the Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma programmes to the full MBA?

Yes. The Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate programmes are stand-alone graduate qualifications which may also be credited towards the full MBA degree programme. This means that upon successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma programme, you will have the option of enrolling on the Postgraduate Diploma/MBA with advanced standing, transferring the credit already earned.

Who awards the qualifications?

The qualification is awarded by U21Global. Stringent quality assurance procedures are completed by U21pedagogica, the quality assurance body established by the Universitas 21. The certificate awarded by U21Global bears the crests of the participating Universitas 21 universities.

Will employers recognise my qualification?

Employers already recognise the quality of the U21Global online programmes. A number of corporations and government agencies, such as Hewlett-Packard, ExxonMobil, HSBC, Maersk Shipping, Standard Chartered Bank, the Ministry of Defence in Singapore and Aditya Birla sponsor their employees to study at U21Global. With the reputation of the Universitas 21 member universities behind your degree, you can be sure your qualification will be recognised by discerning employers.
